We are delighted to receive funding from the Big Lottery, Awards for All, for an innovative project called Glad Rags.
Glad Rags has been developed as a response to a problem for women when they come out of custody. If women are referred to GOING HOME the existing staff will make a referral to the Glad Rags scheme to offer support for women who need help with suitable clothing on release.
Glad Rags will enable women to identify clothing through a `virtual wardrobe' and be given clothing for specific purposes - e.g. job interviews.
Glad Rags will have a strong emphasis on skills-development providing opportunities for women to develop or enhance skills through:
The project funding will provide basic clothing items plus equipment such as sewing-machine, a mannequin, camera, clothes-rail, vacuum bags and coat-hangers. Other costs will include budgets for Group Days, publicity and web-site costs. In addition, training for work-shops will be required to enable women to gain the skills to develop, learn, grow and sustain a self-help group.
