Going Home Project

Going Home is a new project for women ex-offenders who slip through the net of existing services. The overall aims of the project are to:

  • Support and build the confidence and self esteem of women
  • Provide the opportunity to give something back and help others who may have been through similar experiences by becoming a peer mentor

The 'Going Home' team has experience working with women ex-offenders in Wales. We recognise that women need support when released or at any time in their lives when living with a conviction. Going Home is for women:

  • ex-offenders living in or returning to Wales
  • who want support rebuilding their lives
  • who are not or no longer dependant on drugs or alcohol
  • who may have been out of custody for some time and are looking for help

Waterloo Foundation

We are delighted to have secured additional funding for 12months from the Waterloo Foundation to work with women in the Gwent Police Force who are arrested for the first time for a minor offence. With the funding we will be able to work with women from Newport, Monmouthshire, Caldicot and surrounding areas; helping them address the reasons why they committed crime in the first place and to reduce the risk of them re-offending.
