Gibran: Helping Ex-Offenders Who Would Otherwise ‘Fall Through the Gap’

Gibran UK is a not-for-profit social enterprise, established in 2006. Gibran has secured funding from a range of sources to support women offenders, and we have recently extended our services to include men.

We work with people who would otherwise ‘fall through the gap’. For example, we do not work with people who have a chaotic lifestyle from activities with drugs or alcohol as there are many agencies (both statutory and voluntary) who already receive funding to support people with drug and alcohol issues. However, we do support offenders who have recovered from their addictions, as well as people who have had no involvement with substances.

During the last six years, Gibran (UK) Ltd has secured almost £2 million to help women ex-offenders. More recently, we have been awarded a grant from Big Lottery People and Places until December 2016 to support both men and women in the criminal justice system; this includes prisoners on remand.

We have a full complement of staff delivering services across Wales and using technology to increase digital inclusion.

We are one of only a handful of organisations in Wales who have secured Investors in People GOLD status twice. This award demonstrates that Gibran is an effectively managed team who respond to the changing needs of the ex-offenders we work with to deliver ‘world class’ services.
